Yulia Hanansen - Flower Workshop
”Flower Mosaics: a Homage to Georgia O’Keffe”
November 11-12, 2017
Hours: 9:30 AM - 4:30 PM
Georgia O’Keefe did it in her paintings, you can do it in mosaics! Learn how to translate flower portraits painted by this famous artist into mosaics. In this 2-day workshop we will explore the following: flower structure, closeups, depth of field, choosing a color palette, effectively portraying flower details, composition, layout, and technical aspects of working with the stained glass tiles. We will be using Yulia’s boat-shaped “brushstroke” tesserae that you will learn how to cut during the workshop. The board size of 10”x12” will allow you to work on a detail from a larger image or on the whole flower. The goal of this workshop is to explore the ways of portraying flowers based on paintings and gaining a hands-on experience in working with glass. Images will be provided by the instructor.
All skill levels are welcome.
